Is Beauty Skin Deep? I Don’t Think So

In my line of work, I tend to speak with lots of women, many of whom say they don’t care how they look. But doesn’t how you look on the outside often represent how you feel inside? I certainly think so.

As you probably noticed, I haven’t had a blog post in a while. I caught something nasty last week and have had a really hard time shaking it. What I’ve noticed during the past week (and you’ve probably noticed if you’ve seen me) is that the worse I feel, the worse I look. I don’t mean that I look sick What I mean is that I haven’t taken care of my outward appearance as much as I usually do. I usually spend 5-10 minutes in the morning grabbing a watch, some earrings, basic bracelets, sometimes a necklace, and throw on I quick look to make myself presentable. I’m a pretty pleasant person to be around, so I’m not hiding behind a façade…but I do care about how I present myself to the world. So why the change in the last week? My inner feelings were reflected in my outer appearance.

So when someone tells me that they don’t care about what they look like, I start to wonder if it’s a reflection on how they feel. When talking with them a bit more, the REAL reason usually comes out. Some women feel like everyone else is more important than they are. Some think that they don’t deserve to look good. Some women think it’s selfish to spend time on themselves. And some women think they’re not pretty enough to bother. Shocking? It’s true…and I used to be one of them.

But what I’ve realized over the last 2 years in this business is that it doesn’t matter if you’re fat or thin, old or young, tall or short, or anything in between. None of that matters. What matters is how you feel about yourself. And how you present yourself to the world should show the world how you feel about yourself. This isn’t something that you can be taught, you have to find out for yourself. Otherwise, I would have learned this years ago.

If someone asked me if I had one wish for my business, it would be to help women unveil on the outside how beautiful they are on the inside. By becoming a spa consultant, I’m hoping I can help make the world a beautiful place, one woman at a time.
